Apologies for my distant tone over the last week. After re-reading my last few posts I realised I’d been happily barking away about things I’d been doing with my bouquet from the Cut Flower Workshop, without even telling you how the day itself went! It was great, by the way. Really educational and a whole heap of fun playing around with the different cut flowers. The reason I haven’t posted about the workshop on here is because the details will actually be going in a guest post on The Natural Wedding Company blog, so keep your eyes pealed for it! It will feature photography from wedding photographer Dasha Caffrey, who also attended the course. I haven’t seen her pics from the day yet, but if they’re even a fraction as good as her wedding photography, then they will look incredible. I’ve posted the photos from my own camera on my Facebook page, in the Catkin Cut Flower Course album. You can see how amazing the kitchen garden at Doddington Hall looks! Very envious.
Although not an excuse, one reason for my impersonal tone is that I had a big piece of news that I have been bursting at the seams to share, but couldn’t until I had the final ‘OK’…
…We’ve found a house! By the sea, in Pembrokeshire. It’s all official, and we will be moving early August, so you may have to excuse me if posts become a little irregular around that time. I can’t believe we’ve finally found something – I had actually started writing a post last week about how fed-up I was getting with the whole ‘searching for a house’ business (honestly, the way some estate agents behave, it’s a wonder anyone has a home at all) – but then it all changed when Chris made the crazy decision to make the 12hr journey to view a house and back again, in one day!
I was sceptical of the idea; it’s not a cheap trip to make for just one house that may turn out to be unsuitable, but he went with his gut feeling and he was right! It looks perfect on the photos and Chris thinks it will be ideal. It’s a little weird to be moving somewhere I’ve not actually seen in the flesh, so I guess I just have to trust Chris’s judgement (!). I’ve already hit Pinterest like a woman possessed looking for coastal home inspiration. The house itself is an open-plan, two bedroom converted barn, and is just 1.5km from the nearest beach. I am beyond excited. I’ve even been learning Welsh. That’s how excited I am. I am going to be yelling ‘bore da‘ at everyone, morning, noon and night.
But, more seriously, I just can’t wait to ‘nest’. It’s been a long time coming. It was August last year that I first poured out my heart on here, and said how I wanted to change my life. Well, look at me now! I left a job I wasn’t enjoying and took a chance on self-employment; I scoured Devon, Pembrokeshire and even France to find the ideal seaside for me and now I’m moving there! Holy moley. Feeling pretty pleased.
Anyhow, I’m sure you’ll be hearing tons more about my moving to the seaside over the coming weeks and months, so I’ll put a lid on it for now. Another little piece of news to share is that we spent the last weekend on set filming a music video for upcoming singer-songwriter Ethan Ash, who has previously supported acts such as Ed Sheeran and Nick Harper. His latest EP is due to be released on September 27, and we were shooting the video for the single. He will be at Camp Bestival and Secret Garden Party over the upcoming festival season, and is well worth a watch if you are going to be there – his voice is incredible and he’s got such a personality to boot. Chris co-directed the video with artist, and friend, Patrick Hurst, and I flitted about acting as runner and filming footage for ‘the making of’. It was a interesting and very wet way to spend the weekend (how can it possibly be July?!). Full details of the shoot and exclusive footage and images will be on Chris’s blog shortly, if you want to know more. I’ll leave you with some snaps I took on set:
